Conditions:
Erin in Montreal
Ira in Amsterdam
Season change from Summer to Autumn to Winter
Time zone – 6 hours apart.
Following joy and honoring friendship were our guiding principles.
We consider these as part of the conditions we found ourselves in.

Timeline:
Liquid Telepathy is an exchange between Ira Melkonyan and Erin Hill.

Our first exchange took place in September 2020, through a residency and sharing of research at Veem House for Performance (see archive of Open Studio event here).

The current virtual iteration of Liquid Telepathy began, drop by drop, in Summer 2021. It flowed with more intensity in October and November, and found its culmination in December through the shape of this website.

Acknowledgements:
This phase of our research has been supported through thoughtful conversation with our outside eyes Antonia Steffens and Keerthi Basavarajaiah, the talented and careful design of Jimmy Grima at tinyislandstudio (https://www.tinyislandstudio.com/), and 4bid gallery in Amsterdam (https://4bidgallery.wordpress.com/). This project is supported by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts).

Methodology:
Dreaming: Sharing actual dreams, as well as being guided by daydreams, imagination, fantasy. Being guided by dreams means not stopping to question or be critical of where a certain idea or image is coming from, but to allow it to enter, take its place, accumulate and see what comes next.

Materials -- Drawing, video collage (between our archive and other sources), sound, writing in shared google docs and using the “comment” function as a way to expand texts.

Reading -- Our bibliography is scattered throughout the website as footnotes, and is accumulated here as a list.

Note on who this is for:
Ira and Erin are cis-women. We speak from our experiences, our own flows and liquid lives, as well as fantasies of other ways to flow, hormonal fluxes and wet internal paysages. In this research we speak often of the uterus-womb-matrix, and cite people who are rethinking or reframing birth narratives.
We do not view the uterus as a necessary organ for being a woman, and do not wish to construct womb-centric conversations on womanhood.
We are interested in imagining that space as both an embodied and as an external space - as a site that liquefies. A place we can all visit, if we want to. A place for the artist-pensioners, perhaps.
